Increase in fine rates at the CSL

The Science Libraries Sub-syndicate has approved an increase in rate of fines for overdue books. The rate had remained unchanged since 1985. From 1 August 2006, readers returning overdue books charged out for a regular loan period will be fined 25 pence per book for each working day that they are overdue.

The fine rate for overdue short loans (journals, reserve books and non-book media) will remain at 50 pence per item per working day.
